When: 19 Oct 2019 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Code Blockchain DApps With Hyperledger Fabric & Node.js by The Assembly

Blockchain has begun to transform businesses by enabling collaboration in a way that has not been possible until now. One of the most popular tools developers turn to to utilize the power of the blockchain is Hyperledger Fabric, an enterprise-grade open source permissioned distributed ledger framework originally contributed by IBM and DigitalAsset that allows full stack Javascript developers (for example) to seamlessly integrate functionality into their solutions with minimum fuss.

At this session, we’ll show you how to develop decentralized applications (or DApps) hands on and deploy a permissioned blockchain on to your own computer using Hyperledger Fabric 1.4. You’ll learn how to develop smart contracts (“chaincode”) and develop a custom API to communicate with the blockchain using Node.js.

The workshop will be conducted by Sahan Ratnayake and Ibrahim Motiwala, part of the 1st place team at the recent in5 Blockchain Challenge hackathon conducted at in5 Tech in association with Oracle and Emirates NBD. Sahan & Ibrahim are students at the University Of Wollongong In Dubai and co-founders at BLOCKSupplAI, a collective of coders and innovators that has won at various blockchain coding competitions and seeks to disrupt supply chains across industries using decentralized technology.

Prerequisites:

• Some previous programming knowledge in Node.js

• An Ubuntu virtual machine on your laptop (For eg; using Oracle VirtualBox - instructions here: https://brb.nci.nih.gov/seqtools/installUbuntu.html)

This workshop is free admission.
